Teaching Philosophy

The department’s teaching concept is based on the philosophy of education in terms of personality development. Our aim is to teach students how to think and not what to think. This means that we not only provide facts (“know-what”), but also focus on methods (“know-how”) and develop awareness (“know-why”) in the context of international management. This includes the exposure to diverse perspectives (theories, ideologies, stakeholder perspectives, value systems, etc.) and the application of various teaching methods (instruction, group work, presentations, simulations, role plays, videos, papers, etc.).

An article by Prof. Dr. Holtbrügge and Prof. Dr. Haussmann about the teaching philosophy and structure of our courses can be found here.
